There will be picture retakes this morning.  This is only for students who fit into one of the following situations:  students NEW to SRMS since picture day, students who were ABSENT on picture day, students who did not purchase pictures on the original day, but would like to do so now, or any student that PURCHASED a package, has it with them to return, and would like a retake.  Students must return the full contents of the original package to the photographer to get the retake.


 

Students - do you need earbuds?  The Tech Team will be selling earbuds in a variety of colors for only $2 before school on Monday, December 12th, in front of the auditorium.  So, drop by the Tech Team table to purchase your new earbuds for $2

From Mr. Goldberg:  We are still selling Fire Drill Raffle tickets in the Cafeteria in the mornings until Friday.  Tickets are $1 dollar and proceeds go to the Thunder Fund which helps pay for FIELD DAY.  So if you want to have a great end of year celebration...Buy a raffle ticket and you might get to start a fire drill here at SRMS.

Fire Drill Opportunity:  We will be raffling off a chance for one lucky student to get to pull the fire alarm and start a fire drill here at SRMS.  You can buy your raffle tickets in the morning in the Cafeteria from 8:10 - 8:25.  Tickets are one dollar each and all proceeds will go to the Thunder Fund, which supports the teachers at SRMS and also helps pay for our end of the year Field Day celebration.  Buy your tickets next week!

 

The book fair will be closing at noon on Monday, Come by today or first two blocks Monday to make any last minute purchases.

 

Food Drive:  The SRMS LINK food drive starts Monday!  Please bring in any non-perishable items such as soup, canned vegetables, pastas and other long lasting food items, or personal hygiene products like toothpaste and toilet paper.  Any donations will really help someone less fortunate this winter.  Drop off any goods in your house area by the secretary's office.  Tho food drive will run until December 16th.

 

Student Tech Team Members: - there will be no student tech team meeting on Monday, December 5.  See you the following Monday, December 12.

Tech Team:   There will be an information meeting on Monday, November 28th in Lab B for students who are interested in learning more about the school's Tech Team.  Come and learn more about what our student tech team does.  You must have a signed permission slip to attend this meeting.

 

School Book Fair will be open on Monday November 28th through noon on Monday, December 5th.  Students will be able to purchase books when they visit the library with their English class.  The book fair will also be open on Wednesday, November 30th until 6pm  for after school shopping.  Please help support your school library!

Staff and students, the PTO’s pie throwing contest was held last Friday in the cafeteria. The contest winners were eight grader Jake Mancuso, who “pied” Mr. Peck, sixth grader Colin Harris, who pied Miss Do, and finally, sixth grader Sophie Comi, who pied Mr. Bell.  Congratulations to the contest winners, and condolences to their gracious teacher pie targets. Thank you as always to our wonderful PTO for organizing this event. This is a reminder that your holiday PTO pie pickup is being held today from 3 to 6 pm in the auditorium.

Congratulations to our winners of the Box Top Contest #1 - the winners are:  6th grade, Sophie Comi with 85 box tops, 7th grade, Emilio Cortez with 29 box tops and from 8th grade, Ben Willoughby with 66 box tops.  The Grand Prize winner with the most Box Tops collected is 7th grader Chase Goetschi, with 362 box tops.  The students all win some terrific prizes from area vendors.

 

Thank you to everyone who participated.  Our current earnings are $374.50.  Keep clipping your box tops and bringing them in.  Our next competition will end on Friday, December 16th.

Dominion wants to invite students to come to their Haunted Carnival this Saturday, October 29th between 6 and 10 pm.  Students 10 and older are welcome to the carnival for a cost of $8 per person.  Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult, and are invited to visit the Pumpkin Patch for games and fun from
6 - 8:30 pm for $6 per child. Students - Don't forget that school pictures will be taken during PE classes today and tomorrow.

This coming Sunday is "Build an Outdoor Classroom at Seneca Ridge Day." Able-bodied adult workers who can dig holes into tough and rocky soil, cut and nail together timbers, move and set large stones are welcome. The school interior will be closed and off-limits. See Mr. Peck for more details.

Dominion High School wants to invite students to come to their Haunted Carnival on Saturday, October 29th, between 6 - 10 pm. Students 10 and older are welcome to the carnival, for a cost of $8 per person. Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by a parent, and are invited to visit the Pumpkin Patch for games and fun from 6 - 8:30 for $6 per child.

Attention Jazz Band: Congratulations to all who auditioned! Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, October 18th after school from 3:30 - 4:20. Instruments will not be needed. An email went out to parents last night with your permanent permission form. Please make sure to bring it on Tuesday. They are also available for pick up in the band room. See Mrs. Smith TODAY if you need one!

Just a reminder that the Drama club will be holding auditions for Charlotte's Web after school on Wednesday in the auditorium. If you haven't picked up a copy of the lines they are outside of Mrs. Carter's classroom B8.

You can make history and join Seneca Ridge's first ever wrestling team. There is an introduction meeting tonight from 7-9 pm at Dominion. Come check it out and meet some wrestlers and coaches from Dominion and other schools in Loudoun County. Tonight's event is free and if you have questions, see Mr. Young.

Do you want to wrestle? This year the Parks and Rec Department, under the direction of Top of the Podium Wrestling, is starting up middle school wrestling here in Loudoun County. There is an interest meeting this Wednesday night, 7 pm, at Dominion High School. If you have questions, please see Mr. Young.

Requested by Ms. Nunes:  National German Week - sadly - has come to an end.  The answer to Friday's trivia question is Puma.  The brother of Adidas founder Adi Dassler was Rudolph Dassler.  After they had disagreements, he founded his own shoe and sports apparel company, naming it Puma.  Look outside room E3 for the winner's name.
