The Library at Park View
2012 Winner of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service

Being literate in today’s world has expanded well beyond the traditional meaning of being a competent reader. Now students must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, listening, calculating, viewing, and, of course, computing. Students also need to have an understanding and appreciation of world cultures. These are the skills Park View’s students will need to be successful in the Twenty-first century. The Library Media Center staff is aware of these new realities and relentlessly teaches all students to improve their capabilities in all these areas.

The Park View High School Library Media Center is located near the school's main entrance. With resources of more than 25,200 cataloged volumes, 53 periodical subscriptions, and access to many non-print resources, the library provides materials and services to support the curricular, reference, and recreational needs and interests of both faculty and students.

PVHS' Library Media Center provides access to books, periodicals, pamphlets, maps, software, reference sources, audio-visuals, recorded books, e-books, 11 online research databases, Safari Montage video-loops, productivity software, a mobile Promethean Board, scanner, DVD players, LCD projectors, digital still and video cameras, and production equipment. A photocopier and audio-visual equipment for listening and viewing media are also available for student use.

In addition, the Library Media Center maintains strong ties with school libraries throughout the county, as well as with the Loudoun County Public Library system. All the Loudoun County school and public library resources are available to PVHS students through Interlibrary Loan and many of these assets are available around the clock through the virtual library provided on this website.
