The 2016-17 school year marks Mrs. Kittrell's 13th year as a gifted education teacher in Loudoun County Public Schools.. She has taught all three gifted programs SEARCH (K-3) , FUTURA (4-5), and SPECTRUM (6-8). In addition to being a gifted education teacher, Mrs. Kittrell has also taught 3rd - 6th grades and worked as a Math Consultant in Jersey City Schools. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education Degree at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a Gifted endorsement from University of Virginia and Shenandoah University.
Mrs. Kittrell embraces life-long and engaged learning. She believes that students get excited and retain more when exposed to real-life/authentic learning experiences. Today's students need opportunities to develop key 21st-century skills that will serve them well in a globally competitive, information-based society, such as problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Mrs. Kittrell understands the social-emotional development of the gifted student at the middle school level.
In her free time, Mrs. Kittrell enjoys spending time with family. She and her husband are certified foster parents in Loudoun County and have been blessed with several foster teens who love the Kittrell's Double 8 Alpaca farm. Mrs. Kittrell's hobbies include riding horses, knitting and spinning alpaca fiber from her beautiful herd of alpacas in Lovettsville.
